Parking Places for Fishing on the River Alyn.

There are a few parking places along the river to make access easier to your favourite area. Some, however, can only cater for one or two vehicles. Please be aware of this and do not restrict or block access ways. The above map gives an indication of areas to park (marked “P”) Starting from the downstream limit of our water: -

Parking for the railway bridge, Rossett weir up to the footbridge.

Parking Parking

Rossett village car park and at the end of the road (road ends and becomes cycleway / footpath) next to the village hall. Walk under the dual carrageway to the river.

The two pictures below show parking at the weir, on the opposite side of the dual carrageway underpass from Rossett village

Parking Parking

The next area is all around the Llay Road Bridge for fishing between Llay Road Bridge and the Straight Cut.

Parking Parking

Off main road parking opposite the footbridge, the verges of Llay Road Bridge or the field entrances (Please don't obstruct these entrances).

Parking Parking

Springfield Lane.

A very pretty road, but with very soft edges once you have passed under the railway bridge.

Parking Parking

Turning off the main road into Springfield Lane and continue under the railway bridge.

Parking

Yes, this is a public footpath! Right across the dual carriageway, it takes you through a hole in the hedge and across a field to the “Twin Bridges”. Not a recommended route, but you will see cars parked in the area. There are several “passing” places along Springfield Lane, plus a couple of laybys.

Parking

Kingfisher Meadow and Gresford Weir.

Parking Parking

Entrance to the Sewage Treatment works, the first right hand turn on Springfield Lane, followed by a right turn onto a farm track immediately after the bridge. (Be careful that you don’t park too close to the steep drop by the gate, but also ensure the farmer can get passed you) Room for two cars.

Parking

Do NOT park by the gates near to the entrance to the Sewage Site as lorries come down this road at quite a speed and could damage your car. (see below)

Parking

September Cottage.

Parking

Drive into the entrance to September Cottage and Gresford Lodge.

Parking Parking

The parking spaces are to the left at the bottom of the lane.(Please do not obstruct the gateways or the entrances to the houses. There is only room for a maximum of two cars here)

Parking Parking

Exit from Springfield Lane – Right to the Horse field and September Cottage, Left to the Griffin Pub.

Horse Field.

Parking

Parking for one car, keeping clear of the gate. This is the first field gateway after crossing the dual carrageway, but before the first road turning.

Wormswood.

Parking Parking

The Lay-by on the A483 - An “interesting” place to park and you do get funny looks from passing cars as you don your waders! If you walk to the last bin, there is a steep path down to the end of the Horse Field / beginning of Worms Wood. The opposite way (going left as you look at the wood) has several tracks going in, these lead to a main path that goes onto a wonderful new set of steps! (No idea why they are there, as they just appeared over the winter)! These lead down to Worms Wood, just above the old Mill Race (large concrete blocks).

Last area at the very end of our water. There is a car park, the challenge is finding it!
